Leisure activities and sights in Duesseldorf/ Neuss

Besides various theaters and museums the city of Duesseldorf offers a lot of spots for fans of music, exhibitions, monuments and architecture. One of the most interesting theaters is the German Opera at the Rhine. It shows at operas and ballet shows at its two locations Duesseldorf and Duisburg. People who like funny shows will love the oldest cabaret of Germany. The Kom(m)ödchen was founded in 1946 by Kai and Lore Lorentz and is located at the Kunsthalle Duesseldorf.

Places to be in Neuss

People who like peaceful and contemplative paces, will love the city center of Neuss. Here you will find impressive monuments like the church "Quirinus-Münster", the symbol of Neuss. An idyllic rose garden invites to stroll and relax especially in summer. A large mall is waiting for shopping lovers in Neuss: the "Rheinpark Center".

River banks of Rhine

If the weather is nice, make a trip to the river banks of Rhine in Düsseldorf and stroll along the promenade. Enjoy a cocktail at the “Kasematten”. A special tip to eat tapas is the “Spanische Gasse” in the historical city.

Animal Park

I recommend the animal park „Tannenbusch“in Dormagen. There you can find more than 200 animals of various species. It is a large park in the middle of a nice forest. There is a big playground for kids and open country side for a comfortable pick nick. The small cozy restaurant with terrace is open from 12 am.

Café Schierhorn

Café Schierhorn in Nievenheim is my secret tip – there are great tartes and delicious breakfast. Special Cheesecakes is a real dream. The café is small and has a very familiar atmosphere.

In the Volksgarten in Duesseldorf you can find relaxation and silence on 70 ha. The right place to enjoy a short break in the middle of the big city.

In winter or in summer, I can hardly recommend the „Wellneuss“ to everybody who enjoys relaxation. The natural and large sauna area is a real oasis of recreation. Additionally, the “Wellneuss” offers massages and baths.

Great for golfers: not far from our hotel the golf resort “Hummelbachaue” is located. Here you can find the 18 holes championship field or the 9 holes field as well as a large training areal. There is also a restaurant and bistro.

Climbing Park

At the high robe climbing park in the ski hall Neuss you will find plenty of action for young and old ones. Seven different parcours as well as a climbing wall are to be explored by you and your kids you only have to take care of comfortable clothes and shoes. The climbing equipment is inclusive.

Claudius Therme

The historical Rom is only half an hour away from Duesseldorf. And Sibiria? It’s also only 50 kilometers from the Metropolitan city. Both is not only located in the same direction, but also just a door separated from each other – in the Claudius Therme at the Rheinpark in Cologne.

Schloss Dyck

The castle Dyk, the romantic, baroque castle, which is surrounded by a big old park is used for several garden exhibitions.

Best ice cream

The ice cream shop „Meine Eisliebe“ sells delicious and homemade ice cream. I really recommend it in combination with a short walk for about only 20 minutes from the hotel.
